This Site…
covers the 3 major parts of what we do as User Experience (UX) professionals:
- Gather - We gather information, organize, discuss it, and give it meaning. We collect information to solidify our understanding of the problems people experience. We put those problems in the context of the user. We ask many questions and strive to satisfy our curiosities.
- Design - We continue our explorations. We create, build, invent, and modify things that are familiar to improve them to achieve higher levels of quality and usability.
- Deliver - We share what we’ve created. We put our best efforts to the test and give people something to use. We listen, watch, and try to feel the pain or joy of the people using our designs. We learn from their behavior. We reshape our knowledge and gather more information with the hope of improving upon what we’ve designed.
I realize this may be an overly simplistic description of UX practices and their considerations. I don’t intend to “define the damn thing” nor do I intend to argue over what works best. I simply want to share my thoughts and practice to improve the disciplines in UX. Like the IxDA, I want to help improve the human condition. In this blog, I encourage you participate and share your ideas.
Me, Chris Cavallucci…
I’m a User Experience Architect based in the Philadelphia area. My portfolio gives you a flavor for the items I use to communicate my design thinking. My work engages teams across multiple disciplines including engineering, design, marketing, and business strategy. My user research evolves through the development of personas, user stories, and interactive prototypes. My background in software testing & QA enables discussion of technical requirements and enterprise information systems. I’ve worked as a consultant on numerous information systems design and development projects in the financial services, pharmaceutical, RFID/logistics, and technology industries. On a full-time basis, I worked for several entrepreneurial companies including TMX Interactive, a digital agency, Patron Solutions, a Comcast-Spectacor company providing online ticketing, and Exclaim, a mobile phone media company.
I help companies enhance their user experience and brand relevance.
I hold a Masters of Information Systems degree from Drexel University and an undergraduate degree in Psychobiology. I actively participate in PhillyCHI, IxDA, IAI, and ASQ.
My communities are diverse and extend beyond many borders. Members of my networks inspire and inform me — I owe a lot to my peers, and I thank them for what they’ve shared with me.
In my spare time, I coach soccer and enjoy spending time with my family. My kids are my greatest achievement.
